About Damanpreet B.

I\'m a Master of Engineering student at UC Berkeley, where I previously earned dual Bachelor\'s degrees in Bioengineering and Psychology. My work lies at the intersection of engineering and medicine, with a specialized focus on oncology. I\'m driven by a deep commitment to improving cancer care through innovative, patient-centered solutions. As a first-generation student, my path has been shaped by resilience, creativity, and a strong sense of purpose. These experiences continue to inspire my dedication to developing holistic approaches to healthcare that serve both patients and their families. With a strong foundation in interdisciplinary research and a passion for impact, I’m actively seeking opportunities in biomedical engineering, oncology R&D, healthcare innovation, and research. I’m especially interested in contributing to collaborative, mission-driven teams focused on advancing cancer treatment and care. My long-term goal is to lead transformative initiatives that redefine how we approach complex healthcare challenges.

Working on the Master’s capstone project “Target Design Optimization for Ac-225 Production”, focused on developing a novel method for producing Actinium-225, an alpha-emitting medical isotope used in targeted cancer therapies. My contributions center on simulation-driven Ra-226 target design and experimental planning to support scalable and efficient isotope production- Optimizing Ra-226 target geometry and neutron flux to enhance Ac-225 activity for medical isotope applications- Performing MCNP simulations to determine optimal conditions for maximizing neutron yield and Ac-225 production- Collaborating with scientists at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and UC Berkeley under the mentorship of Professor Lee Bernstein and Dr. Andrew Voyles
