I am an Operating Department Practitioner and Theatre Matron with extensive experience managing complex surgical services within the NHS.My background spans clinical practice, operational management, workforce leadership and service improvement across operating theatres. I have spent much of my career working closely with surgeons, anaesthetic teams and operational leaders to improve theatre utilisation, workflow efficiency, list predictability and patient pathways.I remain passionate about the human and cultural side of theatre performance, aiming to help improve turnaround times, operational flow and team engagement within perioperative services.A particular area of interest for me is theatre utilisation, list predictability and the operational challenges around surgical list planning, including the balance between realistic case durations, efficient theatre flow and maintaining a positive workforce culture.Which often results in:• underutilised theatre time • frequent overruns • on-day cancellations • staff burnout • poor patient experienceI am passionate about improving perioperative services through practical operational improvements that support both staff and patient outcomes.My Key focus:• surgeon-specific utilisation modelling• List predictability • improved theatre list planning • operational theatre performance improvement • workforce and workflow optimisation
