As the executive director of Friends of the GTM, I am honored to lead a dynamic organization, dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of the GTM Research Reserve. With a deep commitment to environmental stewardship, community engagement and sustainable practices, I drive initiatives that align with our mission to protect and showcase this invaluable natural resource treasure.My role involves strategic planning, fundraising, and advocacy to ensure the continued success of our organization. Collaborating with a talented team I oversee the development and implementation of programs, that promote conservation, education, and research within the GTM Research Reserve. One of our key focuses is fostering community involvement, through outreach, events, educational programs, and partnerships with local schools, we aim to inspire a sense of environmental responsibility. These initiatives not only contribute to the well-being of the GTM area, but also empower individuals to become advocates for sustainable practices in their own lives. Fundraising is a critical aspect of my responsibilities, and I take pride in cultivating relationships with donors, sponsors, and grant making organizations. Through effective communication and a transparent approach, I successfully secure funding for various projects, allowing us to enhance visitor experiences, invest in research endeavors, and implement, crucial conservation initiatives. Advocacy is at the heart of our mission. I work closely with government agencies, community leaders, and environmental organizations to champion policies that protect and preserve the GTM Research Reserve by participating in public forums, collaborating with like-minded entities, and staying informed on environmental legislation, we strive to be effective advocates for the long-term sustainability of this unique ecosystem.In addition to overseeing operations, I am committed to maintaining a positive and inclusive, organizational culture.
