ABOUT DALE SHEPARD

Dr. Shepard received a PhD in pharmacology in 1995 from the Ohio State University College of Medicine with an emphasis in drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics and phase I clinical trials. He then completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Chicago in a multi-disciplinary NIH-sponsored Clinical Pharmacology Fellowship program to gain additional training on the fundamentals of conducting clinical trials. Upon completion of his post-doctoral fellowship, Dr. Shepard returned to the Ohio State University College of Medicine for his medical degree which he completed in 2003. He completed both his Internal Medicine residency (2006) and Hematology and Medical Oncology fellowship (2009) at Cleveland Clinic. In 2009, Dr. Shepard joined the Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology where he is the Director of the Taussig Cancer Institute Phase I program. To support the Phase I clinical research program, the primary focus of his clinical practice is in patients with advanced cancers who have exhausted standard therapies or for whom few standard therapies exist, primarily patients with advanced GI and GU cancers, and cancers of unknown primary. He has also become a regional/national resource for patients with sarcomas with frequent referrals for patients from the surrounding states and international patients.
