About Dawud Akram
As a certified Educator, School Counselor, School Leader, and Director of School Counseling across California, New York, and New Jersey, I bring over 28 years of dedicated experience in child development to the table. My journey into education was fueled by a deep empathy for children facing various challenges, and I strongly believe that my extensive background enriches my ability to make a positive impact on the students I serve.Following my graduate studies in Educational Counseling at Wilmington University in May 2011, I seamlessly transitioned into my role as a School Counselor, where I\'ve been actively involved in supporting students\' academic and social development. Recently, I earned my Ed.S in Educational Leadership from Walden University, focusing my research on the impact of fatherless homes on African-American males and their socio-emotional learning.In my pursuit of continuous growth and leadership, I completed the UCLA Principal Institute, earning an additional master’s degree and obtaining my State of California Administrative Credential for K-12. I\'ve also shared my expertise by teaching courses such as Law & Ethics of School Counseling and Cross Cultural Counseling at the University of San Francisco, as well as facilitating Public Speaking classes for students in grades 7-12 at De Anza College for Kids.My approach to leadership revolves around building strong, trusting relationships that prioritize the academic and social development of adolescents. With a philosophy grounded in trust, respect, empathy, and support, I\'ve honed effective strategies and practices over the years, equipping me not only to support those I encounter but also to share valuable lessons with others.
