About Dakota Kelley

I wouldn\'t be me if I didn\'t spend all my spare time pushing myself to learn as much as I possibly can. In fact, that is one of the many reasons I fell in love with programming and working with technology. The ever changing technologies and paradigms excite me, and I tend to dive in head first when I meet a new coding or technical challenge.This love of learning is my core tenant. During high school, I spent my mornings going to a trade school and learning about networking technology. While I was in undergrad, I would take classes covering every area of IT to learn about the full stack as much as I could. That caused me to specialize in Software Development, Information Assurance, and Computer forensics. Even when I got my current job as a Software Developer at Oklahoma State University, I went back to get a Masters Degree where I am focusing on Data Science. Continued learning and self improvement are vital to who I am.When I\'m not pushing myself to be a better engineer, or busy with my studies, I do what I can to give back to my community. I didn\'t have a lot as a kid and there weren\'t many opportunities to interact with technology, so I spend my Saturdays at the local library using scratch to teach kids about logic and programming. Being a teacher of young minds is it\'s own reward, and helped me develop the confidence I needed to take those teaching skills to conferences.Over the last couple of years, I\'ve been lucky enough to present on various topics at several Higher Education Technology conferences. There\'s nothing like teaching something to help you understand and appreciate how much you know and understand a topic.When I\'m at work I tend to be our Data master and guru. Most of my projects have to do with scrubbing data, exporting data, running transformations on data, generating reports, or optimizing our process. It doesn\'t matter how good a process is, if it takes to long to run, you will not have the returns or the usage you need and want.
