ABOUT DAVID HICKEY

A senior journalism leader and manager with nearly 20 years\' experience working in newsrooms – in TV/video, online and in print. Proven product management experience, including delivery of entire products, start to finish, in newsroom environments. Currently working as Platforms & Social Editor at NBC News, based in their London bureau.Previously, I edited/curated content at the Telegraph, ensuring all content on the front page of Telegraph.co.uk (2024 Press Gazette Awards’ News and Current Affairs Website of the Year) and Telegraph app (Future of Media Awards 2024 App of the Year) met the standards expected of a world-class publisher. I worked across a variety of content in a fast-paced environment and alongside some of the country’s best journalists in their field for a website that in 2024 reached over 200m readers and had 1 billion page views. Prior to that, for six years, I managed a team of video journalists at Newsflare, the platform that connects content creators and influencers with publishers and brands utilising AI and analytics. There, I led, motivated, set objectives, and managed performance by introducing a data-driven mindset focused on client needs, delivering trusted content that was relevant to them quickly and efficiently. Prior experience also includes: working in a variety of newsroom roles at AP’s global news hub in London; as a field producer, taking on assignments in Libya, Egypt and South Sudan, for a major Japanese broadcaster; as a senior online editor at a Haymarket Media Group B2B title; and as a features editor/writer, copy editor and P1 editor at a national daily.
