ABOUT DAVID GILLESPIE
In my 35+ years as an architect I have been very fortunate to work on a variety of project types along side some outstanding design professionals. Healthcare and mission critical projects hold a special place for me and I am most comfortable on the execution side of design especially when the impact of projects can directly affect my community. Knowing I have had some small part to play in keeping people safe from severe weather, returning them to their families after an injury or illness, safeguarding the digital environments that our world is so reliant on gives me great personal and professional satisfaction. Learning from each project and project team keeps me motivated for the next challenge. Large or small each opportunity to make a difference is one not to be missed.I have recently assumed a new professional position and a new set of volunteer responsibilities. As a project manager for the UAB Health Systems and as the Section Emergency Coordinator for Alabama amateur radio. Update 2021. The past months have revealed how reliant we are on our health care providers and the environments they work in. Here at UAB, and I am sure at all major hospitals, we care stretching our resources and creativity. We are responding to challenges on a daily basis. The dedication of our team sometimes feels overmatched by this virus, but that is just on the surface. Our healthcare delivery infrastructure is elastic, and resilient. We are facing another surge at the moment, and we need all the common sense we can get to overcome this challenge. But, we will overcome it. And this last comment is more important that ever. Please take the time to do something completely random, selfless and purely for the good of someone else. You never know, it might change your life.
