About Daniel Evans
I am excited to lead and collaborate with global R&D teams who meet challenges in creating and optimizing products and technologies in the context of societal, environmental, and economic drivers. My father, a Ph.D. in nuclear physics, had a significant influence on my decision to study science. While pursuing my Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry, I solved complex mechanistic puzzles, using analytical and theoretical methods to develop compounds with applications in photoluminescent materials and thermal management of semiconductors.Along the way, I developed skills in material synthesis, ligand design, crystallization, structure analysis, and inert laboratory skills, which supported my transition to industrial R&D.Working in an industrial laboratory and GMP environment, I have led and collaborated with global R&D teams in the US, Europe, and South America. These efforts have fast-tracked catalyst discovery programs across the manufacturing lifecycle. R&D Research Team Management | I have demonstrated the ability to lead an approximately 10 person research team of Ph. D. chemists and bachelor chemists/engineers. I enjoy leading my team with enthusiasm, compassion, and drive to accomplish objectives to turn research ideas into commercial products. R&D Project Management | My versatility and diverse knowledge intersects across physical, organic, inorganic, and electrochemistry and material science disciplines. It supports me in picking up and advancing projects from discovery to commercialization. Creative Problem Solving | I have been characterized for my positive attitude and eagerness to troubleshoot and investigate challenging problems in different ways that open new areas of R&D. Natural Curiosity | I am always striving to learn new things. My diverse chemistry background helps me integrate perspectives and make an impact in various industries and disciplines ranging from ligand design, refinery catalysts, and energy storage materials. Synthesis and Scale-Up: Schlenk Line, Glovebox, Hydrothermal Synthesis, Coprecipitation Synthesis, Solid State Synthesis, Process Scale Up, Nanoparticle Synthesis, Ligand Design, Organometallic Synthesis, Metal Complex SynthesisCharacterization: Single-crystal & Powder X-ray Diffraction (XRD), NMR, IR, UV-Vis, fluorescence, Raman, EPR, XPS, XRF, EDX, Mass Spectrometry, SEM, particle size analysis, gas adsorption, TGA, Electrochemical testing (CV, LSV, GC/D)
