About Dace McPherson

Mr. McPherson has over 30 years of experience in the IT field, including 20 plus years in security and network consulting, operations, educational consulting, instruction, and course development. He has held positions ranging from a web and lead security administrator, course developer, security assessment and disaster recovery consultant, and security compliance specialist.Currently, he works as a Senior Technical Instructor for Splunk, where he delivers technical training courses in the security practice of Splunk.Before joining Splunk, he worked as a Senior Technical Education Consultant for NetWitness - an RSA Business to deliver technical training in the NetWitness product line, advanced security certification courses in a global capacity.He was a member of a mobile training team working in the Information Assurance Cyber Network Defense discipline of RLM Communications, training government and military personnel to ensure compliance with directive 8570.1 education requirements.He has also served as a Vice President of Compliance Services for a security consulting firm and performs duties as an ISC2 certified trainer for the ISC2 CISSP educational seminars and performing customer security assessments for various customers as needed. Mr. McPherson holds a Master’s in Education (M.Ed) in Curriculum Design and Instruction and a Master of Science (MS) in Information Technology, emphasizing Network Security. He is currently enrolled in a Doctor of Information Technology (DIT), emphasizing Information Assurance and Cybersecurity, with an anticipated Doctoral Capstone project and graduation date in 2024-25He also serves as an Adjunct Associate Professor on the School of Cybersecurity and Information Technology faculty for the University of Maryland Global Campus(UMGC).
