ABOUT CYRIL CARREZ

I thrive in solving complex problems, anywhere from theoretical concepts to actual implementations.I received my engineer diploma from ENST Bretagne (Ecole Nat. Sup. des Télécommunications) in 1998, and my Ph.D. from ENST Paris in 2003, on formal methods for components. After my thesis, I took the opportunity of a post-doc at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (Trondheim, Norway), from 2004 to 2005. I then continued as work-package leader in the STREP project SIMS (FP6) until 2008, working on so-called semantic interfaces.I moved to SINTEF in 2009, in Oslo. I worked with various projects (SHAPE, COIN, NEFFICS), focusing on SoaML, model transformations and business interoperability services. The opportunities at SINTEF were great, as a researcher, to set a foot in industry. However I needed to take some time to think about this change in my career. I quit SINTEF in Dec. 2012, and started to develop a small iPad app. The result is \"Algorithms HQ\", a fun and didactic app to learn computer science algorithms. I still continue its development (it\'s fun!), when I find some free time.Currently, my long term goal is to rewrite the execution engine in C for high performance, aiming to allow large data set. The next version will bring animations of linked-list, with a view demonstrating their lack of memory locality.Since October 2013, I am working at censhare GmbH, first as a Senior Java Developer, then as a Software Architect (2018). During this time, I enjoyed improving censhare\'s in-memory database, prototyping new frameworks (like a BPMN engine, or a Bulk Synchronous Parallel model for large-scale graph processing),or investigating CRDTs (Conflict-free Replicated Data Types) to allow seamless concurrent updates in a micro-service architecture. I supervise the teams that bring those concepts into production, quite often contributing to the task at hand.I recently found a new opportunity, but I take a break during the summer holidays :)Sincerely, Cyril Carrez.Competences:Java, Swift, C, Objective-CMicroservices (Spring, Kafka, Kubernetes, Docker)Prototyping / researchArchitecture guidanceAgile/ScrumModel–driven engineering (UML, EMF, BPMN)Model transformationsFormal methods
