About Cynthia Thyfault

I am the Founder and CEO of QuantaVision, where for more than three decades I’ve helped bring bold sustainable technologies from vision to reality. My passion for renewable energy and low-carbon innovation started on a farm in Kansas, where I learned the values of resilience, community, and stewardship of the land. Those lessons have guided me ever since. At QuantaVision, we specialize in helping companies secure the funding and strategic support they need to scale advanced technologies—everything from biofuels and sustainable aviation fuel to renewable natural gas, advanced batteries, and green agriculture. To date, I’ve helped clients secure over $4 billion in financing for projects that reduce carbon emissions, create rural jobs, and strengthen local communities.I’ve been honored to serve as Chairman of the Energy Subcommittee for the National Rural Lenders Association, and as an appointed member of the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency Advisory Committee, where I advised on clean energy competitiveness and global trade. Along the way, I’ve also spoken at international forums, including air shows and climate finance events, and contributed to business and trade publications on sustainable finance and risk management. My work has been recognized with several awards, including being named one of the Top 100 People in the Bioeconomy and one of the Top 500 Global Leaders in the Bioeconomy. What drives me most, though, is helping entrepreneurs and innovators take groundbreaking technologies across the finish line—building a cleaner, more resilient future for us all.Feel free to connect with me at c••••••@quantavision.earth to discuss how we can drive sustainable change together!

Experience

  1. Member of Industry Group, Bioenergy Standard and Grids Standard

    Climate Bonds Initiative

    Mar 2017 — Present

I served in 2017 – 2018 on the Industry Working Group for the Bioenergy Standard and is currently serving on the Industry Working Group for the Grids Standard for the Climate Bonds Initiative. Climate Bonds Initiative is an international organization working solely to mobilize the largest capital market of all, the $100 trillion bond market, for climate change solutions. The Climate Bonds Standard and Certification Scheme is a Fair Trade-like labeling scheme for bonds. It is designed as an easy-to-use tool for investors and governments that assists them in prioritizing investments that truly contribute to addressing climate change. The Standard is a public good resource for the market. The Climate Bonds Taxonomy is a guide to climate aligned assets and projects. It is a tool for issuers, investors, governments and municipalities to help them understand what the key investments are that will deliver a low carbon economy. The Taxonomy is grounded in the latest climate science and has been developed through an extensive multi-stakeholder approach, leveraging the work of the Technical and Industry Working Groups. The Taxonomy aims to encourage and be an important resource for common green definitions across global markets, in a way that supports the growth of a cohesive thematic bond market that delivers a low carbon economy.
