   I perform EKGs, measure blood glucose, and maintain records. I administer adjunct care such as enemas, non-sterile dressings, ice packs, heat treatments, sitz baths, and apply restraints. I monitor patient stability by checking vital signs, weight, and recording intake and output. I ensure patient comfort by answering call lights, transporting patients, and reporting observations to the nursing supervisor. Additionally, I assist with activities of daily living by feeding patients as needed, and helping with ambulation, turning, and positioning. Throughout this job, I have learned strong communication skills, teamwork collaboration, and how to express empathy and compassion if one\'s mental health is unstable. One of the biggest gifts I have learned throughout this occupation is patience with the patients as I am the individual who spends the most till with the patients, adapting to their health and behavior. I document my actions through forms, reports, and logs, and follow policies and procedures to maintain smooth operations. I protect patient confidentiality and adhere to hospital policies, standards, and legal requirements. I stay current in my role by participating in educational opportunities and maintaining licensure. I contribute to the hospital’s reputation by taking ownership of new tasks and finding ways to add value to my work.
