ABOUT CYNTHIA GOODE

Cynthia V. Goode, Ph.D, is responsible for project management, writing scopes of work and budgets, planning and scheduling, client communications, historic context and research question development, archival background research, artifact identification and analysis, ArcGIS analysis, report preparation, Section 106 and 110, and National Register of Historic Places eligibility determinations. Dr. Goode has directed Phase I, II, and archaeological investigations at sites dating from the Middle Archaic period to the 20th century. She is a skilled laboratory director. Dr. Goode works with local, state, and federal organizations, including the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the General Services Administration, the National Park Service, the Virginia Department of Transportation, U.S. Army Garrison Fort Belvoir, Marine Corps Base Quantico, Fairfax County Park Authority, and the Arlington County Historic Preservation Program, along with private clients in the transportation, construction, environmental permitting, and planning industries. She is a Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA) and member of professional organizations including the Council of Virginia Archaeologists, the SHA, the SAA, and the Middle Atlantic Archaeological Conference. Dr. Goode specializes in Middle Atlantic, African Diaspora and Civil War archaeology and artifact analysis.Dr. Goode has over 20 years of experience metal detecting and is proficient with KOCOA analysis, primary research, and metal detector surveys on Civil War archeological sites ranging from fortifications, earthworks, battlefields, winter quarters, cantonments and front-line temporary camps. She has investigated Civil War resources associated with the Bermuda Hundred Campaign, Winchester Manassas II, Aquia Creek, Appomattox Courthouse, Appomattox Station, Bristol Station, Chancellorsville, Chantilly, Gettysburg, Salem Church, Sailor’s Creek, Swift Creek, Totopotomoy, Upperville, and Williamsburg, and at Meem’s Bottom (Stonewall Jackson’s HQ), and the Virginia Theological Seminary.
