About Connor Mulligan

Hi! I am a Cloud Architect & DevOps Engineer. I work daily in Kubernetes clusters, and on automation pipelines. I didn\'t however, start my career as a software engineer. In 2021 I graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in Industrial Design, or as the college might phrase it;\'the design of our physical relationships with products.\' With this degree and some CAD skills, I became a packaging designer in Colorado. This was an interesting mixture of face to face work with clients, hours spent in Solidworks, and even more hours spent on the factory floor designing the actual, physical manufacturing of my digital imaginations. After a while though, packaging design lost the dynamic, exciting energy it had stirred in me at the start. To find this in my life I went looking for something that was stimulating and demanding, and that I wasn\'t sure I would be able to do. In early 2023 I found software engineering. Solving these little challenges, with a language I wanted to understand, on hardware I definitely didn\'t understand, had me hooked. I knew that this would be industry I would continue my career in. For the past two years I have invested thousands of hours in learning the N # of tools and languages that; for the benefit of my challenge-seeking brain, and to the detriment of my resume, are constantly evolving. Now 2 years in to cloud architecture, I get to absorb something new, something formidable at first glance, something clever, every time I go to work, and I think that is awesome.
