   Responsibility for planning, organizing and maintaining Beaufort County Sheriff\'s Office 911 emergency telephone systems to assure compliance with pertinent local, state, and federal laws, rules, regulations and procedures. The work requires an advanced understanding of principles and practices of 911 emergency telephone systems, including relevant state and federal regulations, operations network requirements, methodologies, and equipment. Supervises the work of subordinates by scheduling, assigning, monitoring, reviewing and evaluating the work. The work involves a variety of situations, requiring the employee to use judgment in order to refine policies or develop solutions which conform to clearly defined policies and procedures. Requires analytical thinking in order to ensure efficient use of technology and available resources. Work is performed primarily in buildings and structures where risks and hazards are substantial, but are known, somewhat predictable, and mostly controllable. Operates a personal computer, telephone equipment, headsets and jacks, crimp and computer tools, motor vehicle, calculator, scanner, hand trucks or carts, bungee cords, recording equipment, video and audio equipment, overhead or slide projectors, and other standard office equipment. Ensures operation of the 911 equipment as required by laws, rules, regulations and procedures through collaboration with public safety answering station personnel.Consults with individual agency managers as needed.Oversees budget to ensure lawful and impartial utilization of funds. Monitors system activity for equipment and network function and maintenance.Receives and reviews 911 user fee revenues for reconciliation.Reports problems with network equipment and computer programs to the appropriate provider.Interprets computer printouts, reports, oral and written communications to troubleshoot problems with the 911 emergency telephone systems and makes emergency repairs when necessary.
