Manage new Machine Shop and Equipment, set up, indicate in, operate, and maintain: TM-1p HAAS CNC Mill, TL1 HAAS CNC Lathe, SHARP Manual Vertical Milling Machine, SHARP 1340VS Manual Lathe, BAILEIGH 75 Ton Air assist Hydraulic Press, BOLTON Horizontal Band Saw, JET Combination Shear, Brake, and Roll, 2 JET Drill Presses, GRIZZLY 8\" Dual Wheel Tool Grinder, GRIZZLY Vertical Bandsaw, Miller Mig & Tig, Miller Plasma Cutter, and a Universal Laser Engraving Machine.Responsible for developing and implementing shop and Mechanical Engineering Laboratory Safety Standards and procedures in accordance with established university policies.Machine and fabricate testing samples for educational laboratory experiments. Assist students and faculty with academic and research projects requiring machining, manufacturing, fabrication or assembly skills.The MENG Program is brand new here and in the beginning stages of development processes. Instructing Engineering students in an Introduction to Manufacturing Processes Course with demonstrations first, then guiding each student through the steps one by one. The students are learning through hands on operation what the machinist machines are both capable and incapable of accomplishing which is at the basis of their designing parts to be manufactured.
