About Curtis Harris

I recently started working at Northrop Grumman as an Engineer Mission Assurance. I work on projects to improve processes by reducing variation. This involves root cause analysis and implementation of Corrective Action/Preventative Actions. I previously worked almost 23 years at Autoliv where I experienced the process of implementing and maintaining a lean culture through the view of the production worker and as a member of the management and support staff. I have gained great insight into how to implement lean concepts. I am a big believer in Kaizen (or continuous improvement). It is empowering to know that if I see something at my job that can be improved I can do something about it, and I have management support to get it done. In the spirit of Kaizen, I took it upon myself to earn my Six Sigma Black Belt certification from the American Society for Quality (ASQ) in 2011. In the process I began preparing for the Certified Quality Engineer exam. I passed both exams on my first attempt. As a result I am invited regularly to attend projects on cross-functional teams. This is a great way for me put my skills and knowledge to use. To take advantage of my Quality Engineering experience I have started the Mechanical Engineering Technology Program at Weber State University. I enjoy putting my new engineering skills to use in my current position.
