I represent substantial family business owners. I help clients save taxes to the extent legally permitted, protect their family\'s assets, and help them build long term business succession architecture to transition from one generation of leaders to the next. I have over 35 years of experience with some very large family company clients. I also represent private business owners in merger and acquisition (M&A) transactions, including the negotiation, tax structuring, due diligence and closing of such transasctions. We also handle other corporate legal matters. I am a partner with Culp Elliott & Carpenter, PLLC of Charlotte, North Carolina. Though most of my cleints are in the Charlotte area, I serve clients across the United States, from Florida to Louisiana to California. The industries we serve are concentrated in health care data management, real estate development, construction, inventory logistics, food service, distribution, and high net worth professionals (attorneys, dentists, physicians). I also help larger corporate clients, private business owners and high net worth clients address and resolve significant federal tax issues, including IRS audits, IRS Administrative Appeals, Trials in the U.S. Tax Court and refund tax cases in the Federal District Courts. We not only do tax planning but are experienced going to court and trying cases. I have an AV Preeminent by Martindale Hubbell. I have co-authored a nationally published book entitled,\"Valuation Practice in Estate Planning and Litigation, by Clark Boardman. I have also been a Regent with the American College of Tax Counsel, and am a past Council Member of the Section of Taxation of the American Bar Association. I am also a fellow in the American College of Trusts and Estates Counsel. I have also served on the Board of Trustees of the Montreat Conference Center (PCUSA).
