About Curtis A. Colleton

Dr. Colleton has 30 plus years of experience in management and veterinary medicine to include clinical practice, applied and investigational research, anatomic, clinical and forensic veterinary pathology; receiving his DVM from Tuskegee Institute School of Veterinary Medicine in 1983 and his board certification from the American College of Veterinary Pathologists in 1992. He has over 15 years of toxicological pathology experience with inhalation, oral, intravenous, subcutaneous, and dermal routes of exposures involving bacterial toxins, rickettsial pathogens, small molecules and biologics and has been a member of the Society of Toxicologic Pathology since 2005 where he serves on multiple committees and boards. He has over 30 years of project management knowledge and experience encompassing investigational, biological defense, environmental and pharmaceutical research as an operational team lead driving program organizational strategic goal. Dr. Colleton has been certified as a project management professional by the Project Management Institute since 2007; completing his CCA Certification and PMI Agile Certified Practitioner training (board eligible) in 2014; serves on numerous committees and is presently the past president of the Southwestern Indiana Chapter. He served over 13 years in the US Army Veterinary Corps where he received numerous awards and medals. His experience as a Veterinary Detachment Commander and Chief of Veterinary Services, allowed him to develop, direct and support teams and programs on a large scale to a company level. Finally, he serves on the board of multiple non-profit organizations, is passionate about his family, ministerial work in Jehovah’s organization, apiculture, golf, horticulture, catering, leading, coaching and motivating individuals and teams.

    Summary:Provides Global cross-site support of portfolio efforts through the nonclinical evaluation of new chemical or biological entities through full development to loss of exclusivity of Vertex therapeutic agents. The PPRF reports directly to the Executive Director/Head of Veterinary Pathology of PSA and collaborates with cross functional teams to provide anatomic pathology support for efficacy and safety assessments of potential therapeutic agents. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES Participation and review of study reports, scientific summaries, scientific publications, poster and platform presentations, and participation in strategic management and professional education training Assisting in the identification in external CROs, subject matter experts and/or academic institutions with specific expertise to support portfolio activities Collaboration with discovery and project scientists, toxicologists, and clinical development in support of portfolio efforts and drug development Participation in the design of studies to investigate mechanisms of action and to elucidate toxicity findings Establish collaborations with cross functional teams for model development and interpretation of bridging comparative investigations and where possible function as lead on special projectsKEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Anatomic pathology assessment and/or interpretation of safety or efficacy investigations and nonGLP and GLP toxicology studies Review of outsourced efficacy, investigative and toxicology studies, up to and including carcinogenicity studies Interpretation and communication of data to project teams and upper management
