I am a Program Director and educator with over 25 years of experience in Health Information Management, focused on preparing students and professionals for real-world practice and leadership in a rapidly evolving healthcare environment.I hold a Master’s degree in Project Management with a specialization in Organizational Leadership and Change Management and am a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA). My background spans HIM operations, electronic health records, workforce training, and large-scale system implementations, including Epic Systems.As the Program Director of Health Information Education at Arapahoe Community College (ACC), I oversee both the associate- and bachelor-level HIT and HIM programs. My work centers on workforce-aligned, competency-based education grounded in experiential learning, industry collaboration, and technology integration. In addition to program leadership, I teach, advise students, collaborate with industry partners and advisory committees, and support accreditation and continuous program improvement.I am particularly passionate about helping learners understand not just what HIM is, but why it matters—emphasizing professionalism, ethical practice, data integrity, and leadership development. Across my work, I prioritize student-centered pathways, equity and access, clear communication, and preparation for both entry-level and leadership roles in HIM.Through my teaching, program leadership, and professional engagement—including my thought leadership work through Leading in HIM—I aim to support the development of adaptable, confident, and leadership-ready HIM professionals who are prepared to contribute meaningfully across diverse healthcare settings.
