About Christopher D. Brechlin
I\'m a public sector and nonprofit technologist with 15+ years solving operational challenges by designing and launching scalable, cost-effective software solutions. I start every project by learning about the people and processes that make up an organization’s culture, while considering the possible capacity and financial constraints. I learned early in my career that nonprofits struggle with technology investments because of poor planning, as much as a lack of talent. My philosophy on organizational change is rooted in a need for adaptability and informed by a deep knowledge of enterprise technology, system architecture, and how to optimize data flows across teams. For nonprofits, clarity of process improves data quality, which facilitate performance management, and lays a foundation for impact. When supporting nonprofit innovation, it\'s important to learn about the unique context of their work and to lean into hard conversations how they meet their mission, as much as why they\'re committed to it.I have a unique combination of communication and leadership skills, deep domain knowledge on public policy and social programs, and the technical abilities to build and maintain complex systems. Since starting as an AmeriCorps VISTA, I have consulted on or built technology projects for over 50 nonprofits, spanning sectors that include: affordable housing/homelessness, human services/basic needs, youth development, public health, food access/insecurity, and open government data policy.
