ABOUT CARRIE STREHLAU
As a veteran in the communications field, I assist institutions to create authentic, persuasive and cohesive content across mediums. With more than 28 years of experience in the field—nearly two decades in social media—my strengths and skills include social media creation, management and listening; media relations; integrated strategic and crisis communications; people and project management; public relations; storytelling; government and stakeholder relations; digital marketing; writing and editing; and public speaking.I’m currently a senior digital content specialist at Ochsner Health focused on the 65 Plus clinics in the southeast. I have expertise in the fields of research/science, biomedical sciences, clinical trials, hospital systems, clinical and patient care, pediatrics, nonprofit advocacy, government relations, employee communications, and graduate school/university communications. My passion for knowledge-sharing and mentorship has afforded me the opportunity to present at conferences organized by Public Relations Society of America, PR News and Ragan Communications, as well as other communicator forums. At St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for more than 20 years, I founded the institution’s social media program, developing its architecture and scope. Under this strategy, I used social media storytelling to connect audiences with the lifesaving work unfolding in labs and clinics each day. Employing photos, videos, infographics, live-streams, first-person accounts and more, I shared stories of discoveries and those responsible for them. After leaving St. Jude, I\'ve worked with nonprofit organizations like the National Bleeding Disorders Foundation and Hands of Mothers, and companies like Social Cascade, assisting with their communications efforts. In addition, I assist with social media efforts for the PRSA Health & Life Sciences section, PRSA Western North Carolina chapter and Go Local Asheville. To see some of my work for Ochsner Novant Health 65 Plus, check out these Facebook profiles:@Ochsner65PlusPensacola,@Ochsner65PlusOkatie,@Ochsner65PlusSavannah.To see some of my work for St. Jude (through June 2023), check out @StJudeResearch on Twitter/X, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Medium;@StJudeGraduate on X/Twitter;@StJudeGradSchool, Facebook and Instagram; and @StJudePaws on Instagram.
