About Cynthia Stillings
Cynthia Stillings designs regionally and nationally. In her 15 years of collaboration with Cleveland Opera, her design work includes Carmen, Man of La Mancha, Of Mice and Men, Madame Butterfly, Iolanthe, La Boheme and Tosca. For Great Lakes Theater Festival she designed the world premiere of Adrienne Kennedy’s The Ohio State Murders and I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change for Playhouse Square. She is Resident Lighting Designer for Porthouse Theatre Company where her designs include Jesus Christ Superstar, The Spitfire Grill, A Chorus Line and Once on This Island. She was Resident Lighting Designer for Cleveland Opera. Other regional theatre, opera and dance credits include Utah Shakespearean Festival, Skylight Opera Theatre, Phoenix Theatre Circle, The Cincinnati Ballet, Lyric Opera Cleveland, Travesty Dance Troupe, Cain Park Theatre, The Contemporary American Theatre Company, Madison Repertory Theatre, and Player’s Theatre Columbus where she designed an award winning production of Assassins. She recently lit the world premiere of Lend Me a Tenor, the Musical for Utah Shakespearean Festival. Cynthia Stillings is Professor at Kent State University and currently serves as the Associate Dean of the College of the Arts. She has a BS in Business Administration from West Virginia University and an MFA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
