About Crystal Ashby

Currently, Crystal serves as an Independent Board Director for Texas Reliability Entity (Texas RE) and as a board director of several other organizations. She applies her experience and advocacy to create sustainable change in a broader context. As the Interim President and CEO of The Executive Leadership Council (ELC), Crystal led the organization’s efforts to increase the number of global Black executives in the C-Suite, on corporate boards, and in global enterprises. She was the first woman president and CEO of the organization and traces her association with The ELC to her participation in the first class of The ELC’s ‘Strengthening the Pipeline’ leadership development program. Crystal is an accomplished senior executive, board member, and lawyer with more than 30 years of leadership success. Her corporate leadership experience was gained over a 22-year career with BP where her roles spanned government and external affairs, law, compliance and ethics, university relations, and retail. Being a leader across multiple disciplines, Crystal understands how management and board governance can positively impact business results. And her multi-disciplinary leadership roles have provided her with the ability to assess, coach and motivate others.
