I am currently BDO Canada’s National Partner of Accounting Standards and Accounting Advisory. In this role I lead and participate in all important firm initiatives related to accounting standards in Canada and globally (including IFRS, ASPE and US GAAP).I have over 20 years of public accounting experience, including a secondment to the Chief Accountants Office at the Ontario Securities Commission, serving publicly listed and owner-managed businesses in various industries including the technology, manufacturing, retail, healthcare, cannabis, and infrastructure industries in Canada, the US, and globally. In my current role I provide technical accounting and accounting advisory services to clients and professional staff on technical interpretations of accounting for complex or unusual transactions, pre and post M&A accounting, GAAP conversions and related financial reporting issues. In addition, I develop and present technical accounting training courses on financial accounting standards within BDO and for external audiences. I am actively involved in technical discussion groups and has participates on industry and regulatory forums on accounting standards development and policy setting. I represent BDO Canada as an active member of BDO International’s Global IFRS Policy Group, developing the global firm’s positions on significant IFRS matters, IFRS exposure drafts, IFRIC draft interpretations and tentative agenda decisions.
