About Kim Andersen

I am the founder and director of two language institutes: Empire State English and Capital Region Language Center. Empire State English (ESE) is an English Language Institute serving adults in our community as well as international students from abroad. We are NYS Education Department licensed, CEA accredited and SEVP certified to issue the I-20, allowing students to study with us on the F-1 visa. We offer long and short-term programs and have partnerships with several of our local colleges and universities. We also collaborate with Capital Region Language Center (below) to offer ESL teacher training around New York state, courses on writing, day-long workshops, teachers for private schools and ESL programs for universities. Capital Region Language Center was founded in 2003. In addition to our close collaboration with ESE (above), we offer short and long term world language training to adults and children in and around New York\'s Capital Region. Interested in one on one or small group classes? Do you need language training at your place of business? Interested in starting a before or afterschool world language program at your public or private elementary school? We offer all of the above.

Experience

  1. Founder and Director

    Capital Region Language Center

Apr 2003 — Present · Colonie, NY, US

Capital Region Language Center helps break down language barriers. In addition to offering one on one and small group classes at our location in Colonie, we also tailor language courses for corporations and universities. We also offer remote instruction. Given the language diversity of employees in the Capital Region, we have seen significant growth recently in our English as a Second Language classes, offered exclusively to corporations, universities, and private high schools. Our pronunciation and presentation courses help the region\'s brilliant scientists, researchers, faculty, students, and others to be easily understood. We also offer offsite preschool and elementary school classes as well as a LEAP! after school program. It\'s best if children learn language while young. We are currently teaching: American Sign Language, Arabic, Chinese, ESL, German, Japanese, Korean, Latin, Portuguese, and Spanish. Capital Region Language Center (CRLC) was formerly known as Las Mariposas Spanish School / Language Center. We are a locally-owned New York State Women Business Enterprise (WBE). And, we\'re approaching our 20th anniversary!
