ABOUT CRISTINA LUANGA NAHULI
I am a Mechanical Engineer and early in my engineering journey, I had the opportunity to intern with Baker Hughes, where I learned about Baker Oil Tools (Liner Hangers, Retrievable Packers, Gravel Packs, Intelligent Well Systems). This internship helped my passion for engineering grow due to the exposure to its applications. In June of 2017, I joined Boeing as a Design Engineer quickly supporting to release engineering, support change management and Non-Conformances using the team utilizing CATIA, ENOVIA PLM, and other tools. I owned several commodities and supported numerous Boeing and Partner/Vendor sites. Within 6 months, I spearheaded a change that saved about 2400+ Design Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering hours per year. Additional to my daily tasks, I actively participated in Root Cause Analysis to develop preventive measures. I Investigated process improvement opportunities and drove them from concept to implementation. Within the community, I am passionate about education and promoting STEAM disciplines to students of all ages. Because of that, I became V.P of the Boeing Hispanic Employees Association and enjoyed volunteering at conferences of External Technical Affiliations. This desire to make an impact and cultivate my leadership skills started early. I became ASME Memberships Chair during my sophomore year, became the V.P in my Junior year and President in my Senior year. I further fostered my leadership skills by obtaining the project leader role for the Navy and NAVSEA sponsored Senior project of “the Design and Manufacturing of an Autonomous Underwater vehicle.” During the project, I lead the design analysis focusing on FEA Stress and Velocity Flow, which was key for the hydrodynamic final design; I also assisted with power consumption and heat dissipation calculations. Keeping in mind the economical constrain, manufacturing was conducted in-house where I led the CNC coding for milling of the slots and other features of the aluminum structure.
