About Cristin Cadigan
Former educator turned medical coder and biller. I hold a bachelor\'s degree and was a teacher for seven years across a variety of grade levels. I passed my medical billing and coding course through Penn Foster University with a 93% average across all courses. I also obtained my CPC with the American Association of Professional Coders and my Certified Billing and Coding Specialist credentials with the National Healthcareer Association. I am very excited to have a career in healthcare!I am a risk adjustment coding quality analyst with Optum. The more I learn, the more I want to learn more about medicine and the human organism. I find the process of abstracting to be fascinating and take great enjoyment in correctly coding a report. I look at it like a puzzle - which pieces fit together to best describe the encounter?My skill set now extends to risk adjustment coding, HCCs, HIPAA protocols and practices, MRM software, HCC Coder, and of course the ICD-10-CM.I love to learn and am interested in the \"why\" of things.In my free time I enjoy reading many different genres of fiction and non fiction, writing, and spending time with my family.
