ABOUT CRAIG NEIL

As an accomplished leader with a First-Class Honours Degree and a Level 7 CMI qualification in Leadership & Management, I offer a solid foundation in strategic planning, personnel development, and informed decision-making. I previously held the role SO3 Air Safety Officer (and acting SO2), where I was responsible for all Air Safety and Risk Management matters within the headquarters of the British Army’s Tactical BVLOS RPAS programme. These roles refined my expertise in policy development, auditing, communication, and risk governance. My background as a Tactical RPAS Internal Pilot and Instructor - with over 2,500 operational BVLOS flying hours - combined with MAA Flight Authoriser, Flying Supervisor and Air Safety Officer accreditations, has provided me with deep insight into aviation safety and operational assurance. I am also a qualified Human Factors Facilitator and experienced Aviation Occurrence Investigator, enabling me to proactively identify and mitigate safety risks. I am trained as an ISO 9001/AS9100D Lead Auditor and hold certification as a CGE Advanced Risk Manager, applying the BowTie methodology to ensure comprehensive quality, compliance and risk management. In my current role as a sub-unit Second-in-Command, I am responsible for leadership and development of staff, personnel management, logistics, and communications. This appointment continues to build on my operational and strategic experience, enabling me to lead teams effectively and deliver results under demanding conditions.
