WORK HISTORY
Engineering Lead @Lloyds Banking Group
Leeds, GB
Lead for Process Automation within Insurance, Pensions and Investments, responsible for strategy, delivery and capability uplift. My focus is on moving the team from legacy RPA into modern, scalable, API-driven services, while preparing our engineers for the next step into agentic automation and AI-enabled services. Driving the transition of a 50-robot Blue Prism estate into modular, event-driven process automation on GCP. Embedding modern engineering practices across the team, including API-first design, GitHub workflows, CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native delivery. Building frameworks for telemetry, cost allocation and resilience, giving the team the ability to design services that are measurable, efficient and robust. Developing team capability and culture, coaching engineers to build confidence and consistency while aligning with wider engineering standards. Partnering with business and technology leaders to ensure process automation is invested in where it delivers the most value, resilience and simplification. Preparing the team for agentic automation by establishing the right skills, patterns and governance to adopt AI responsibly and at scale.

ABOUT CRAIG MITCHINSON
I’m an Engineering Lead with over a decade in financial services technology, specialising in automation, AI, and digital transformation. My mission is to build scalable, human-centred systems that make work smarter, faster, and more meaningful for both customers and colleagues.I currently lead a couple of engineering teams, focused on evolving legacy RPA (Blue Prism) into modern, cloud-native, event-driven orchestration on GCP - bridging engineering, strategy, and business value. I’m passionate about automation that doesn’t just replace work, but redefines it - combining APIs, microservices, and intelligent workflows to create measurable impact. As a neurodivergent leader (ADHD + Autism), I champion inclusive, psychologically safe environments where creativity and deep focus can thrive. I believe diverse minds build better systems - technically, culturally, and ethically.I have just completed my Level 7 Senior Leader Apprenticeship and elevated my Level 5 CMI accreditation to Level 7, and now progressing to the Henley MBA to strengthen my strategic and transformation capability. My goal is to bridge technology and leadership - turning engineering excellence into organisational change that truly matters. Focus areas: • Intelligent automation & adaptive process orchestration • API-first engineering and microservice architecture • Cloud transformation (GCP / Kubernetes / event-driven design) • Digital strategy and value measurement • Inclusive and neurodiverse leadershipOutside of work, I’m a creative at heart - driven by film, music, and photography - and a family man always chasing new adventures (ideally under Australian sunshine ).
