ABOUT CRAIG LAVERTY

I practice across a range of proceedings, including arbitration and investigations. I regularly litigate claims involving parties in regulated sectors, often advising on allegations of fraud, bribery and other forms of dishonesty. I also have experience of advising on financial crime matters, including anti–bribery and corruption, anti–money laundering and economic sanctions. In 2022, I was seconded to the legal function of a leading sportsbook. I am also a qualified commercial mediator and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.My recent experience includes- acting in asset recovery proceedings against an individual charged, by the Securities and Exchange Commission, for their involvement in a \"pump-and-dump\" stock market manipulation- representing a Premier League footballer in a dispute governed by Rule K of the Football Association Rules- advising a motor racing league in respect of an internal investigation (and associated regulatory consequences)- acting in arbitral proceedings related to the 1MDB fraud- High Court proceedings in respect of a multi-handed unlawful means conspiracy involving theft and misuse of confidential information- conducting a whistleblowing investigation on behalf of a natural resources company accused of data manipulation- acting for a top-flight football club in an LCIA arbitration; and- advising high net worth individuals and listed companies on a range of defamation matters.
