ABOUT CRAIG GANONG
I am a municipal leader specializing in community development, recreation, and public service delivery, with experience spanning municipal government, provincial sport leadership, and national multi-sport events. My work focuses on strengthening public systems, leading teams, and advancing initiatives that improve access, sustainability, and long-term community outcomes.I currently serve as Supervisor, Community Development with the City of Saint John, where I provide leadership in the planning, coordination, and delivery of community programs, partnerships, and initiatives across the municipality. In this role, I oversee staff and collaborate with internal departments, community organizations, and senior leadership to support strategic priorities related to recreation, community well-being, and neighbourhood development.Previously, as Program Manager, Community Services, I led one of the most comprehensive community services evaluations undertaken by the City, coordinating engagement with more than 30 service providers and eight schools and supporting Council with data-informed recommendations. This work directly contributed to strategic decisions now shaping service delivery across Saint John. My experience in this role strengthened my capabilities in strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, operational leadership, and public-sector project delivery.Earlier in my career, I served as Executive Director of Judo New Brunswick, where I was responsible for organizational leadership, governance, financial oversight, and province-wide programming. I also contributed to the successful delivery of the 2025 Canada Games as Sport and Venues Coordinator, working alongside municipal partners and national sport organizations to support complex, multi-venue operations.I hold a Master of Science in Sport Psychology and a Bachelor of Recreation and Sport Studies, complemented by education in leadership, organizational strategy, and finance through Harvard University, the University of Pennsylvania, Yale University and the University of Michigan.My career has been defined by progressive leadership responsibility at a young age and a commitment to public service. I am motivated by opportunities to strengthen communities, support effective service delivery, and contribute to the long-term success of municipal organizations.
