My background spans nearly every element of communications, which over the course of my career I have used to drive corporate reputation, build iconic brands, manage issues, strengthen stakeholder relationships, and empower complex global teams. For more than two decades, I have sought to challenge the status quo, not simply for the sake of change, but to accelerate how the communications function can help a company deliver on its mission.I currently serve as the U.S. CEO of Burson, where I have the great privilege of working alongside some of the brightest minds on the planet. Burson is one of the world’s leading global communications companies, focused on building and protecting the reputation of our clients, and continually reinventing how that is done. We are a team of problem solvers across more than 80 offices in more than 40 markets around the world. We embrace the values of our founder, Harold Burson. Like him, we believe that public relations is fundamentally a problem solving discipline. My primary focus here is to lead a team of 800+ exceptional people to deliver outstanding communications strategy and execution. That takes many different forms and there is no typical day at the office – which is awesome. I’m a collaborative leader, who at times will deliberately be the last voice in the room to speak up. My leadership style is to solicit input from all levels of the organization, because a forum to advance the best ideas should not be constrained by hierarchy. I believe in transparency and direct conversations.Continuous learning is a must, and it comes in many forms. I like to try new things and make it safe for those around me to do the same. Not everything works. Perfect. That’s learning. In a more traditional sense, I have a communications degree from Temple University. I then went back to school after many years and earned a law degree from Drexel University because the worlds of communications, policy, and law are blurring.
