ABOUT CRAIG SHIRES
I am an apprentice trained Electrician and my experience ranges from apprentice through to Project Manager and Estimator. I have a very wide range of electrical skills, working in many different roles for some of the smallest and largest companies in England. Possessing excellent electrical technical skills and problem solving abilities within all aspects of installation, inspection, testing and commissioning of industrial and commercial equipment. Conforming to the IEE wiring regulations, ACS and Certified European (CE) quality standards, HASAW, COSHH, CDM, PUWER and Permit to Work. These works include the build and installation of Control Panels, field equipment and devices, containment, cables and machinery. With sites ranging from Steelworks, Waterworks, Power Stations, petro-chemical plants, Quarries, Factories, Offices, Supermarkets, Rolling Stock, Train Stations and Sea-World centres. Accomplished in meeting targets in technically demanding environments on various projects around England, Europe, China and South Africa. I enjoy working as part of a team, giving motivation, improving site moral, health & safety, tool box talks and encouraging new skills throughout the work-force. I also have experience in site surveys, asset and dilapidation reports and building maintenance services.In January 2016 I completed an 8 month contract to Northern Rail on C6 examinations of 153 class vehicles, inspection, overhaul, testing and commissioning of the trains at safety critical level of which I am the first contractor to be passed for the commissioning of Northern Rails vehicles to that date.From February 2016 to 1st of November 2019, I was on contract to East Midlands Trains Technical Department for Yellow Rail, carrying out modifications to thier Intercity 125 fleet and C4/6 works, initially for 3 months, extended to 3 years and 9 months.On the 4th of November I started a new contract for Yellow Rail, carrying out the digitisation installation and commissioning of Northern Rails fleet at Manchester, Wolverton and Leeds, including but not restricted to control systems, WiFi, CCTV, USB sockets, driver CCTV and passenger information systems. I moved up to be the 1st in class Project Engineer on this project in charge of the setting up of all works and processes on all new units and sites, then training team leaders to take over once the project is running. I worked as a contractor for Yellow Rail for 8 years.I am now Project Manager for Baldwin and Francis supplying specialist switchgear to Rail and Industry.
