About Craig Segall

I am a longtime environmental advocate, government official, attorney, and policy professional, now engaged in a range of projects to protect climate progress and democratic governance - and always eager for new ideas and ways to help. Before hanging out my own shingle, I was SVP at Evergreen, promoting egalitarian, pro-democracy, pro-labor climate policies and working to mobilize a movement strong enough to safeguard our climate and democracy. Previously, I helped lead the world\'s leading climate and clean air agency, most recently as Deputy Executive Officer where I\'ve overseen a multi-billion dollar incentive program, secured passage of the world\'s most comprehensive zero emission vehicle rules, and set up a first-in-the-country heavy-duty vehicle inspection program, among other team efforts. In the past, I\'ve worked on a wide range of issues from clean cars to environmental justice. I helped broker California\'s path-breaking agreement with leading global automakers to reduce transport emissions, supported the development of our environmental justice programs, led on dozens of Trump-era lawsuits to protect environmental progress, helped develop our short-lived climate pollutant and methane programs, and project managed our Clean Power Plan efforts in the Obama years. Previously I was an award-winning environmental attorney for the Sierra Club. I also hold an academic post at the University of Edinburgh and previously held a similar post at UCLA Law, and advised the Falklands Islands Government on environmental matters.
