I’m a Chartered Structural Engineer based in Glasgow with over 20 years of experience across a wide range of sectors and materials. But beyond the numbers and specifications, I believe great engineering is a creative act, an elegant synthesis of concept, collaboration, and craft.An educational background in architecture, alongside engineering, has shaped a design-led mindset. I see structural engineering not just as problem-solving, but as a form of storytelling, one where space, form, and function come together through carefully considered structure.Over the years, I’ve led the delivery of complex, high-profile projects, working closely with clients, architects, and contractors to ensure that structural solutions are seamlessly integrated into the broader design vision. I pride myself on a collaborative approach that values clear communication, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to quality.I’m also passionate about the profession’s future. I’ve served as Chair of the IStructE Midland Counties Regional Group, a Professional Review Interviewer, and Concept Design Course Leader, supporting emerging engineers to grow with confidence and purpose. Between 2018 and 2021, I was elected to the IStructE Council, contributing to the strategic direction of the Institution.Above all, I believe the best engineering doesn’t just support buildings, it supports people, ideas, and progress.
