I have responsibility for machinery safety and CE Marking of all new machinery and integrated systems installed by Comau UK to ensure that we engineer and deliver safe and compliant machinery. This extends across all life phases of a project, but in particular in the engineering phase. I provide direction on safe solutions at every stage from initial proposal and quotation through to installation and commissioning.My responsibility include- Conducting engineering safety design reviews- Creating the machinery safety concept- Creating design stage risk assessments in accordance with EN12100- Ensuring compliance with EU machinery safety related directives and UK regulations- Ensuring compliance with Essential Health and Safety Requirements specified by the Machinery Directive- Maintaining conformity of our machinery with appropriate BS, EN and ISO safety standards- Functional safety design verification and validation process- Performing on-site safety assessments of our machinery throughout the installation and commissioning phases- Creating the machinery instruction manuals- Compiling the Technical File required by the Machinery Directive- Creation of the Declarations of Conformity or Incorporation - Ensuring conformity with the IET wiring regulation BS7671 and Noise at Work Regulations- Tracking and reporting of progress against project timingI have built and managed a multi-discipline team to deliver the machine safety requirements across the Comau UK business. I have recruited trainees, delivered training and managed their development.I have prepared and delivered machinery safety training to internal departments across the company to raise the profile of machinery safety and enhance their subject understanding. In addition to the above, I manage the preparation of the Health and Safety File as required by the CDM Regulations (where applicable) and the customer documentation package in accordance with our contracted delivery.

I have a deep-seated interest in the machinery safety subject and I enjoy engaging with people who have the same interest.
