Craig Brightwell, native to Michigan and now living in Central Oregon, is a Marine Corps combat veteran, Business Process Analyst, Photographer and Writer passionate about applying his Continuous Improvement background to all facets of life. In his free time, he strives to connect with veterans through his writing and photography. He believes in the power of the wilderness and finds inspiration in the words of Thoreau, Emerson, and Muir, while also feeling a deeply rooted connection with Hemingway. The Sauntering Veteran was founded in late 2018, and Craig plans to utilize this new venue to encourage veterans and civilians alike to opt outside, and saunter through our nation’s picturesque public lands. He believes that by spending time with Nature, through the challenges and into the beauty She provides, one can find true healing from the stresses of daily life and traumas of the past, reinvigorating a zest for the present, and instilling a positive outlook toward the future.
