During his 32 years in uniform, Colonel Patterson has also supported the U.S. Southern Command in Honduras, the Dominican Republic and in St. Kitts and Nevis. He also supported U.S. Army Europe during the 60th Anniversary of the D-Day Invasion in Normandy, France in 2004.Colonel Patterson’s major military awards include the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with one Silver Oak Leaf Cluster (OLC), Army Commendation Medal with one OLC, Army Achievement Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Kosovo Campaign Medal with Bronze Service Star, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Bronze Service Star, NATO Medal with two Bronze Service Stars and the Bronze Norwegian Foot March badge.Regarding his education, Patterson possesses a Doctor of Philosophy in Communication degree from Liberty University; Master of Business Administration degree from Belhaven University; Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication degree from LSU; Associate in Arts in Radio, TV and Film degree from Hinds Community College; and a Professional Certificate in Strategic Communication and Leadership from Seton Hall University.
