About Courtney Schmitt

I am a Guidance & Controls Engineer at Blue Origin working on New Glenn. I develop control laws, and other logic to autonomously guide the launch vehicle to meet its performance and orbit objectives. I also create models and simulations, perform analysis to validate performance requirements, and lead integrated development testing. Prior to working on New Glenn, I worked on the BE-3U upper stage engine controller.I am a graduate of Johns Hopkins University, receiving my B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and an M.S.E in Robotics. My goal is to utilize the unique skillset acquired by my two degrees to provide automation and controls solutions in the space industry. I have focused both my academic and extracurricular work in this field by conducting research, participating on Hopkins\' Rocketry team, and completing internships at an autonomous underwater vehicle company, and Virgin Galactic. I am also a recipient of the Brooke Owens Fellowship.
