ABOUT COURTNEY GRAETZER

As a student-athlete, I had graduated cum laude from Muhlenberg College in 2014 with a Bachelor\'s of Science in Biology with a Public Health Minor, and then graduated cum laude from DeSales University with a Bachelor\'s of Science in Nursing in the accelerated 2nd degree program. It was there where I found a passion for critical care nursing. I supplemented my healthcare experience by being a home nurse\'s aide for a patient suffering from ALS, and my academic experience by tutoring and note-taking for two nursing classes. I felt that this helped me become a stronger leader in and out of the classroom while enhancing my time management skills. I ended up starting my nursing career in 2015 as Graduate Nurse Resident at Lehigh Valley Hospital- Cedar Crest on the MICU/SICU, where my passion for critical care grew even further. In 2017, I took that passion to Nashville, where I have worked in the MICU at Vanderbilt University Medical Center for over 6 years. I believe that this has been where my career has truly flourished: I learned to be a Help-All Nurse (resource nurse), a preceptor, a relief charge nurse, and practiced new skills such as CRRT and ECMO. I also explored other roles in Quality and Education as a CAUTI Co-Chair and Medication Safety Champion. I hope to continue my growth as a nurse at the bedside, while exploring opportunities in education.
