About Courtney C. Davis

As Executive Vice President and Global Education Practice Leader at HUB International, I help educational institutions navigate complexity and build resilience, from early childhood centers and K-12 schools to major research universities and everything in between. My philosophy is simple: risk management should be the office of know, not the office of no. Our job isn\'t to pump the brakes. It\'s to help our partners get to yes, safely and strategically. Whether the challenge is campus safety, cyber risk, a captive structure or the evolving economics of higher education, the right team can always find a path forward. That belief is grounded in something I think is rare in this industry: I know what it feels like to be the client. My perspective has been shaped by time on both sides of the table. Early in my career, I spent nearly a decade as a broker at Gallagher and Marsh. With that experience in hand, I crossed over and spent nine years as the risk manager at the University of Chicago, managing risk across a research university, academic medical center, community hospital, a clinical integrated network, K-12 schools, global centers and national labs. I\'ve faced the budget pressures, the competing priorities, the middle-of-the-night decisions. When I\'m working with an institution now, I\'m not just bringing technical expertise, I\'m bringing the lived experience of having been in that seat. I\'ve also been fortunate to be recognized for this work, as a 2020 Business Insurance Women to Watch honoree, the 2022 RIMS Risk Manager of the Year and a 2023 recipient of the University of Chicago John W. Rogers, Jr. Business Diversity Impact Award. But what I\'m most proud of is the community this industry represents and the doors I hope to open for the next generation coming into it.
