As the United Schools of Indianapolis (USI) Curriculum Accessibility Coach, I work with teachers at all schools within our network: Avondale Meadows Academy (K-4), Avondale Meadows Middle School (5-8), and Vision Academy Riverside (K-4 & 5-8). I am responsible for collaborating with general education and special education teachers as well as English language learner (ELL) teachers to create greater accessibility to grade level curriculum for students with disabilities and English language learners. I promote the use of programs such as Read & Write, Co:Writer, OrbitNote, Snap & Read, Rewordify, Beep, Kami, and Google Classroom to enhance grade level curriculum with embedded accommodations and accessibility supports for students. I support general education, special education, and ELL Teachers in the implementation of strategies for greater access to curriculum outlined in the Universal Design for Learning framework. I also help manage compliance and teacher development within the special education department and English Language Learner department. I regularly observe and provide instructional feedback to teachers, hold coaching meetings, provide feedback on IEPs and ILPs, and lead professional development sessions.
