I tutor beginner to lower-intermediate level Japanese with an emphasis on learning skills for self-study. I specifically focus on breaking down grammar patterns, vocabulary, and kanji into their root forms to reduce students\' reliance on memorization and more on understanding the language at its core. I apply similar principles from problem-solving in engineering by teaching \"tools\" that help learners figure out unknown words or grammar patterns. The materials used in my sessions are hand-selected to fit each learner\'s needs based on my own experiences with studying Japanese as a self-taught learner and what I learned in my language courses abroad.
