ABOUT MARK ROBERTS
I am a pragmatic, personable, solution-focussed senior technology and IP lawyer, with a genuine interest and understanding of technology matters. Substantive exposure to global, high-value technology contracts and projects in the public and private sectors within the UK and Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the United States and Hong Kong. Experience extends to the creation, growth and preparation for sale and acquisition of various technology businesses and includes advising on the deployment of pioneering technologies (such as AI and analytics), working with university spin-offs, identifying creative solutions for GDPR-related technology issues and developing UK & international joint ventures and partnerships. My career started at Halliwells before I moved in-house to act as Legal & Commercial Director to First Software (now part of NEC Corporation) and RB Solutions (now part of Serco). Prior to joining Counterculture Partnership LLP, I created Sound Counsel, a legal practice specialising in technology, media and entertainment law. I graduated with a 2.1 in law from the University of Sheffield and took the Legal Practice Course at Nottingham Law School where I obtained a Commendation. I also hold an LLM in IT & Telecommunications Law from the University of Glasgow and an MBA from Manchester Business School where I specialised in ecommerce and media. In my spare time, I am a keen ultra-runner, completing several Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc races (UTMB, TDS and and the Montane Spine Challenger.
