ABOUT CORLAN BEASLEY

Corlan Beasley is an adamant sports professional and youth advocate. During his matriculation at Valdosta State University, he was determined to learn the recreation profession from every aspect, by completing work study duties for every intramural sport and creating programming matrixes.His credo is based upon his belief that parks and recreation services are capable of enhancing the quality of life and the health and well-being of the people, community, environment, and economy. After graduating from Valdosta State University with his Bachelor’s degree, Corlan continued his professional career journey by mastering skills in finance and admissions. During his tenure with the nation’s largest job training program for youth, Job Corps as an admissions professional, he realized that his passion for recreation was being unfulfilled. For over 4 years, Corlan worked dual positions at both Recreation and Admissions while mastering his innate ability to multitask and prioritize. Knowing that his educational journey was not complete, while working two roles, Corlan completed his Master’s Degree in Sports Management from American Public University to further his skills and knowledge base. In 2014,Corlan was given the opportunity for full time employment with his current employer, Dekalb County Parks and Recreation. In less than 6 months, he was promoted from Recreation Leader to Recreation Supervisor. As a Recreation Supervisor, Corlan has mentored hundreds of youth, led a capital vision campaign that increased youth enrollment by over 50%. Corlan knows that community involvement is the key to his success, he has also collaborated with non-profits, such as Park Pride and other community based organizations to increase visibility for the organizations he supports. He is always working to increase his leadership capabilities and was selected to be a member of Leadership Dekalb, Vanderbilt University’s Adapt Research Committee and University of Georgia’s Carl Vinson Institute. Corlan enjoys coaching youth and spending time with his family in his spare time, he is committed to leading a healthy life.
