During my career I have been working in various roles within the research and commercial sector, including as hydrogeologist, hydrochemist, and numerical modeller. As Head of geothermal research, I made important contributions to progressing the development and application of geothermal energy technologies in the UK. I am a passionate advocate of evidence-based decision-making and have a keen interest in the promotion of science for policy making and in building better communications between research/academia and policy makers. I work closely with policy makers and regulators, and recently completed a academic fellowship at UK Parliament. My experience in influencing and supporting evidence- based policy making include advisory roles to government departments, developing briefing material for Parliamentary audiences and acting as expert witness to parliamentary and government inquiries.
