The Tennessee Suicide Prevention Network (TSPN) is a statewide organization working tirelessly to eliminate the stigma of suicide. Implementing the Tennessee Strategy for Suicide Prevention as defined by the 2001 National Strategy for Suicide Prevention, our efforts date back twenty years.Alongside a dedicated Advisory Council & supportive volunteers, I cover the 8 county Northeast TN region including Carter, Greene, Hancock, Hawkins, Johnson, Sullivan, Unicoi, & Washington counties. Through education efforts and events, my role as Northeast Regional Director is to educate and expose as many people as I can to the facts and numbers of suicide – and to debunk the myths. We offer various evidence-based trainings specialized for businesses, schools, non-profits, faith-based organizations and others within our community. The training and education we provide are focused on presenting participants with facts about suicide and mental health challenges, reducing stigma, increasing awareness, and building confidence in how to recognize warning signs and risk factors in those individuals experiencing suicide and mental health related challenges. These are FREE or low-cost sessions that can be tailored to fit your needs. We also participate in numerous community events and outreach opportunities, providing relevant resources, education, and support related to suicide prevention and awareness. At the state level, we work diligently to gather data around our work in hopes of seeing a decline in death by suicide, suicide attempts, and suicidal ideation. TSPN works to bring hope, help, and healing to every person, family and community who has been affected by suicide.
