This is where life has turned. Last week my father called his three sons together to inform us that he has been suffering from kidney disease for the last five years. His kidneys are currently functioning at 14%. Yep. Tonight I attended a 2 hour very informative meeting at Froedert with my parents about their living donor program. Of course I would be the first one to donate a kidney to my father, except I do not qualify as a living donor due to health issues of my own(diabetes, although I am working to improve my numbers in the event I am able to be considered ). So, the best I can do is become a KDC: Kindey Donor Champion. If you know of someone who is in good health and willing to donate a kidney, I urge you to have them contact the Live Kidney Donor Program at 41••••••10. Meanwhile, my father Herman Thompson awaits word as to whether or not he can be placed on a kidney transplant list. If he does not meet the criteria, he has already been prepped for dialysis.
